Volunteer Spotlight: Pima Medical Institute

April 17-25, 2022 is National Volunteer Week! Please join us as we thank the wonderful volunteers who help us fulfill our mission: To improve the quality of life of individuals and their families living with MS and related neurological diseases through care, support, education and research. #NVW

Since 2018, students from the Pima Medical Institute (PMI) have contributed a significant amount of volunteer hours at various Rocky Mountain MS Center Programs and services throughout the years. We are so grateful to have such dedicated and amazing student volunteers.

One program PMI students help us out with is our King Adult Day Enrichment Program (KADEP). During their placement, students helped in KADEP groups by aiding clients in cooking, crafts, games, and more. They also assisted serving meals, had meaningful conversations with our clients and brought a fun, lively energy with them each day.

Another program that PMI students volunteer with are the RMMSC’s twice-yearly Education Summits. These students brave an early wake-up call to assist with setup, ensure that attendees easily find parking, and help guests find the meeting location. After guiding attendees inside, PMI students put their special set of skills to use by assisting guests with mobility challenges in getting seated and collecting questions for the Q&A portion. RMMSC Staff and Summit Attendees appreciate all that PIMA students do help with this event! One Ed Summit attendee even gave us feedback about the PIMA volunteers by saying, “I loved the welcoming, upbeat volunteers! Thank you, it makes a difference!”

We are so appreciative of all the hours that PMI students have given to our programs and services. You help make our programs and services possible. Thank you!
