The Rocky Mountain MS Center education and wellness programs
provide both individualized and group programs to MS Clinic patients
and MS patients referred by other neurologists.
Education is an essential part of the Rocky Mountain MS Center’s
mission. The goal is to educate patients, families, the public, and
professionals. Education needs span the lifetime of people with MS,
from those who are newly diagnosed and wondering about the future, to
others who are mildly or moderately affected by MS and are experiencing
difficulty with work or family responsibilities, to those who are
severely affected and need help finding resources in the community to
assist them.
The Rocky Mountain MS Center recommends that all newly
diagnosed patients participate in a functional assessment and new
patient education programs. A functional assessment program evaluates
each patient’s needs. The total patient approach helps create a
treatment plan to accommodate each person’s situation and identifies
non-neurological problems that affect a person’s well being. New
patient education classes (MS 101) at the time of diagnosis is crucial
for long-term MS management.
Community seminars are offered regularly throughout the Denver
metropolitan area and cover a variety of medical and non-medical
aspects of living with MS. These programs are open to patients, family
members, care givers and MS medical professionals.
