KING ADULT DAY ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (KADEP)
KADEP emphasizes the importance of maintaining independent and community living. Individual care plans incorporate life skills and maximize self-sufficiency. Participants may choose from over 60 classes and activities that range from cooking, exercise classes, art, adaptive sports and camping trips, to museum outings and community events. Additional services include wellness monitoring, medication supervision, and assistance with personal care needs. The staff includes several certified therapeutic recreation specialists, LPNs, certified nurse’s assistants, exercise specialists, and a meal service staff. On-call neurology care is always available.
KADEP is an international model for adult day programs that serve people with MS. The Center has consulted with the Israeli government and other countries that are launching similar programs and has contributed to a publications on how to establish adult day programs for people with MS. We are also participating in a multi-center study to help identify the traits of successful adult day programs so the model can be replicated. KADEP is the recipient of national awards from the Purple Heart Society and the National Therapeutic Recreation Society.

KADEP is a solution for daytime, quality care for individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. Some people who live with multiple sclerosis have difficulty functioning independently or may be isolated at home, which can lead to depression. Family members who work are often unable to help during the day, and are at a loss for quality daytime care for their loved ones. KADEP fills this critical gap. The program provides care and a robust assortment of activities designed to maintain or improve the functional status of participants, enhance wellness, and create opportunities to socialize and lead fully engaged and enjoyable lives. Ongoing field trips offer the chance to get out into the community. The KADEP facility is fully accessible and includes a gym, computer lab, craft rooms, a large kitchen and beautiful gardens where participants grow flowers, herbs and vegetables.
KADEP is open weekdays from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. Costs are partially subsidized through Medicaid and third party reimbursement from various sources. Please call 303-433-6887 to schedule a tour. Volunteer opportunities are available.
